Philea launches Futures School, a new programme embedding futures thinking within philanthropy
Philea, through the Futures Philanthropy initiative, has launched the Futures School, a learning programme designed to help build foresight and futures thinking capacity across the philanthropy sector.
In an era of growing complexity, uncertainty and urgent need for transformation, today’s philanthropy practitioners must develop the skills to navigate and anticipate emerging trends and adapt their strategies for lasting impact.
With this pilot, Philea and its partners, Bikubenfonden, Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies, Famtastisch Stiftung, Hans Wilsdorf Foundation, Kamel Lazaar Foundation, Laudes Foundation and Stiftung Mercator Schweiz are seeking to help funders not only respond to crises but actively shape the future they and the communities they serve wish to see.
The Futures School consists of two elements tailored to different career stages:
- The Executive Leadership Programme is a 10-month deep-dive designed for senior leaders, board members and executive teams, combining in-person convenings in 2025 in Copenhagen and 2026 in Tunisia, with online sessions.
- The Sandbox is an interactive online learning series for junior, early, and mid-career professionals, offering essential foresight tools, peer-exchange and inspiration from real-life philanthropy cases.
From horizon scanning and megatrends to systems practice and strategic innovation, participants will gain practical skills to apply foresight in their organisations and become part of a growing network of futures-oriented philanthropy leaders.
The Futures School offers the opportunity to connect with a community of like-minded practitioners as well as senior leaders in philanthropy and non-profit sectors and design and test your idea of implementing a futures practice in your organisation.
