Futures School: Sandbox

The landscape of philanthropy is rapidly evolving, and today’s philanthropy professionals must develop the skills to navigate uncertainty, anticipate emerging trends, and adapt their strategies for lasting impact. The Futures School Sandbox is a dynamic online training programme designed to equip junior, early, and mid-career philanthropy professionals with essential foresight and futures thinking skills. Through interactive sessions, practitioners will learn how to “use the future” into their organisation’s strategy, programmes, and learning agendas.

The Futures School Sandbox offers the opportunity to build the foundations of strategic foresight, futures and systems thinking skills. Learn from the existing futures philanthropy practice and real-life case studies of foundations and philanthropy infrastructure organisations which embed futures in their strategies, programmes and organisational culture. The School offers the opportunity to connect with a community of like-minded practitioners as well as senior leaders in philanthropy and non-profit sectors and design and test your idea of implementing a futures practice in your organisation.

What you’ll learn:

• Essentials of strategic foresight, futures and systems thinking
• Hands-on insights from philanthropy practitioners on application of futures thinking across strategies, programmes and organisational culture
• Tools and approaches for implementing a futures practice in your own organisation

Programme details:

• Format: Three online sessions of three hours each, with two optional sessions
• Cost: €450 for Philea foundation and philanthropic organisation members and €380 for Philea philanthropy infrastructure organisation members; €600 for non-members. Scholarships will be available for philanthropy infrastructure and non-profit practitioners
• Participants: 20-25 participants

Futures School is a bold and ambitious step into a new field of creating and sharing foresight and futures thinking skills to support long-term impact and systemic change in philanthropy and civil society. It consists of two elements, the Executive Leadership Programme for teams and the Sandbox for early-career professionals.
