Applications open for the Philanthropic Leadership Platform: China-Europe 2025
Applications are now open for the Philanthropic Leadership Platform: China-Europe, organised in partnership with the China Foundation Forum and with support from Stiftung Mercator.

The Philanthropic Leadership Platform: China-Europe is an innovative, peer-led leadership development programme that brings together 20 philanthropy professionals from China and Europe for a one-week experience. Through collaboration and knowledge exchange, participants gain deeper insights and practical strategies to enhance their philanthropic practice.
The programme equips participants with new perspectives, tools, and leadership skills, empowering them to drive greater impact within their organisations and communities.
The PLP: China-Europe programme aims to:
- Provide unique insights into key developments in philanthropy and the operating environments in China and Europe;
- Inspire participants by exploring emerging practices and challenges faced by philanthropic leaders;
- Showcase impactful philanthropic practices through a peer-learning approach;
- Facilitate meaningful networking among philanthropy leaders from both regions;
- Support leadership development by broadening perspectives, fostering introspection, and expanding possibilities for growth;
- Enhance intercultural competence, fostering deeper understanding and collaboration between European and Chinese foundations.
The upcoming edition will bring together 20 philanthropy professionals, 10 from China and 10 from Europe, for a one-week gathering in Brussels on 14-21 September.
Through cross-cultural exchange and collaboration, participants will explore key themes related to applying an equity lens across philanthropic practices. Discussions will focus on the evolution of philanthropy in diverse regions, approaches to participatory and community-centred philanthropy, governance and leadership models that prioritise inclusivity and representation.
