Philea launches Empowering Philanthropy Infrastructure for Change (EPIC) to strengthen philanthropy infrastructure across Europe

Philea is pleased to announce the launch of Empowering Philanthropy Infrastructure for Change (EPIC), a new initiative designed to strengthen and grow philanthropy infrastructure across Europe and encourage more philanthropic giving for civil society.

Through EPIC, Philea will support Philanthropy Infrastructure Organisations (PIOs) with the skills, knowledge and tools they need to help build stronger philanthropic ecosystems in their countries. The initiative also aims to reinforce their capacity to advocate for an enabling environment, fundamental rights and EU values.

Over the coming period, the project will bring together a range of activities, including capacity-building seminars, advocacy trainings, in-depth research and strategic communications. These efforts will help strengthen networks, build knowledge, develop capacity, foster connections and raise awareness of the value of philanthropy in defending fundamental rights and supporting civil society.

A particular focus of the initiative is to support the establishment and growth of new philanthropy infrastructure organisations in Central and Eastern Europe, while also connecting local, regional and European actors with key partners and decision-makers. In doing so, EPIC seeks to contribute to a more resilient and enabling environment for philanthropy across Europe.

The initiative is co-funded by the European Union through a framework partnership agreement for three years under the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) programme.
