Children and Youth Network – Understanding Youth Mental Health: What’s at Stake and How Philanthropy Can Address its Intersecting Challenges

The Children and Youth Network will host “Understanding Youth Mental Health: What’s at Stake and How Philanthropy Can Address its Intersecting Challenges“ online on 12 November.
Young people today are navigating overlapping social and economic pressures that are taking a deep toll on their mental health and well-being. Rising inequality, insecurity and disconnection are not only shaping how young people see their futures, but also influencing broader social dynamics: from growing polarisation and radicalisation to disengagement from civic life.
This webinar will place mental health at the centre of this conversation, exploring how today’s socio-economic realities are affecting young people’s sense of stability and purpose – and what philanthropy can do to respond. Bringing an intersectional perspective, the discussion will highlight effective approaches and interventions that foundations can support to strengthen youth well-being and resilience in a changing world.
Guiding questions will frame the discussion:
- How are overlapping pressures shaping youth mental health today in Europe and beyond, why it’s important, and why does an intersectional perspective matter?
- What can philanthropy do to strengthen youth well-being and drive lasting responses to these challenges?
The session will also discuss how funders can support collective approaches and ensure that mental health is embedded across agendas.
This webinar will kick off the Children & Youth Networks’ broader exploration of mental health, leading toward continued reflection and collaboration in upcoming sessions.
