Organisational Development Community of Practice – Strategic Integration and Internal Alignment of Organisational Development Support
The Organisational Development Community of Practice will host its annual in-person event “Strategic Integration and Internal Alignment of Organisational Development Support” on 12-13 March 2026 in Brussels.
Organisational Development (OD) support has increasingly become a cornerstone of effective philanthropy and relevant in light of the current challenging civic space. It is not only gaining momentum but also evolving fast, away from traditional top-down capacity-building towards participatory, values-driven, partner-led, change processes.
Yet, embedding OD within foundations’ strategies and operational frameworks remains challenging. While many funders provide some form of capacity support, it often lacks coherence with broader organisational practices or strategic priorities. Questions such as how foundations relate to partners, allocate resources, define success, and measure impact require deliberate reflection and alignment.
This gathering offers an opportunity to revisit the fundamentals of OD, not as an introductory exercise, but as a strategic recalibration. We will explore how OD can be integrated holistically into organisational strategies, ensuring internal alignment and reinforcing foundations’ capacity to support partners effectively. We will share practices and analyse different angles to position a foundation on a spectrum of OD support.
The event will also address critical dimensions of OD support for grantees, focusing on areas of urgent relevance:
- Financial sustainability
- Emotional wellbeing and resilience
- Leadership and governance continuity
The Organisational Development Community of Practice provides a trusted space for philanthropy professionals to exchange insights, confront challenges, and advance OD practice across the sector. Since its inception, the community has championed OD as a transformative approach, this gathering continues that mission by deepening understanding and strengthening alignment.
