Journalism Funders Forum – Journalism Funds with a Regional Focus Lunch and Learn
The Journalism Funders Forum will host an informal conversation on “Journalism Funds with a Regional Focus” online on 15 October from 12.00-13.00 CET.
With the launch of the Media Forward Fund earlier this year, a group of 9 funders from Germany, Austria and Switzerland sent out a clear signal to the rest of European philanthropy: strengthening journalism, and thus democracy, should be a top priority. What motivated these funders to join forces? What lessons did they learn while setting up this collaboration? With independent media being eroded at an alarming rate across Europe, what other regionally focused funds or collaborations are out there that can serve as further inspiration?
Riccardo Ramacci, Stiftung Mercator Schweiz will offer insights on MFF, Jonathan Heawood, Public Interest News Foundation will cover his work with a group of funders to create a UK equivalent of MFF and Marius Dragomir, Media and Journalism Research Center will introduce MJRC’s fund for media in captured environments.
The JFF Lunch and Learn’s are a recurring series of no strings attached and camera optional conversations.
