“International Philanthropy Commitment on Climate Change Progress Report 1” Report Launch

WINGS and the European Philanthropy Coalition for Climate will host an online launch event to unveil the findings of the first-ever progress report of the International Philanthropy Commitment on Climate Change on 16 April.

This report shares key insights into how signatories of the International Commitment are progressing across the seven pillars, from Education and Learning to Influence and Advocacy. The launch event will explore the collective progress made so far and the work still ahead, insights from signatories about successful approaches and lessons learned and will explore shared challenges and crucial recommendations for the way forwards

The International Commitment, part of the global Philanthropy For Climate movement, takes a unique approach to climate philanthropy by encouraging foundations to think about two key things: an interconnected lens, exploring how the climate emergency impacts, and is impacted by their existing areas of work, and a multi-pillar approach, exploring the various levers for change available to them, for more systemic action.

Transparency is a core part of Philanthropy For Climate, incorporating an accountability and ambition-raising mechanism that requires signatories to reflect on and report the actions they have taken under each pillar. Understanding what progress is being made and what challenges still need to be overcome is key to strengthening the pace and scale of philanthropy’s response to the climate crisis.
