Futures Philanthropy Initiative – Futures of Governance in Philanthropy: Resonance and Exploration

Philea’s Futures Philanthropy Initiative will host “Futures of Governance in Philanthropy: Resonance and Exploration” online on 8 September.

Philanthropy stands at a crossroads and long-term thinking, bold ideas and cross-sector collaboration are needed to unlock change. Governance plays a crucial role – how boards make decisions, set priorities and balance risks directly shapes philanthropy’s ability to serve the common good.

Philea’s Futures of Governance research has drawn on survey responses, interviews, desk research and consultations with governance practitioners across philanthropy and beyond. This online session will explore how this research has evolved and what insights are beginning to emerge. Rather than presenting final conclusions, the session will offer a space for reflection and exploration.

The session will connect the research to everyday governance realities, discuss what feels most relevant and applicable in practice, and identify questions, examples and tensions that deserve greater attention.

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn how the research has evolved, reflect on emerging governance trends, connect research findings with practical governance experience, exchange ideas with peers working in governance and influence the relevance of the final publication to their everyday work.
