EuroPhilantopics 2026

EuroPhilantopics 2026 will take place on 2 December in Brussels.

Democracy and civic space are under increasing strain across Europe and globally. Declining public trust, rising polarisation, geopolitical pressures and technological disruptions are putting pressure on democratic institutions and civic participation. At the same time, civic space is shrinking due to political, legal and financial constraints, making it more difficult for civil society organisations including philanthropic organisations to operate and contribute to the public good. This is the very real context that the philanthropy sector is operating in.

EuroPhilantopics 2026 will address the ways in which philanthropy can and must be a vital partner of European institutions in shaping a resilient and democratic future. As Philea transitions from the 2026 Year of Climate to the 2027 Year of Democracy, EuroPhilantopics 2026 will see Executive Vice-President Teresa Ribera open the plenary “Philanthropy as a Partner for Protecting Climate and Civic Space”.

All Philea members are invited to register for the plenary discussion, as well as to express interest in participating in the smaller off-the-record sessions (spaces are limited).
