European Philanthropy Coalition for Climate – How to Integrate Climate Into Your Philanthropic Programmes

The European Philanthropy Coalition for Climate will host an online launch for its guide “How to Integrate Climate Into Your Philanthropic Programmes: What Foundations Need to Know, and Where to Begin” online on 30 June.
For most foundations, climate change is not at the core of their mission. The reality, however, is that no foundation’s work is untouched by climate change, from health to housing, education to food systems, climate change is already deepening the very challenges philanthropy seeks to address. The question is no longer whether foundations should respond, but how.
The scale and interconnectedness of the climate crisis requires us to transform our mindsets, our practices and our processes, and fortunately we do not have to start from scratch.
This report explores how climate can be integrated into the programmes of every foundation, whatever its location, mission or focus areas. Climate integration means thinking about climate when making decisions. Climate can be embedded as a core principle in everything you do as a philanthropic organisation from far-reaching, strategic decisions to your day-to-day activities.
This is an opportunity to integrate climate in a way that reflects your unique organisational values, assets, relationships, experience and expertise.
This report is intended a companion to the Philanthropy For Climate commitments, while also offering insights and opportunities for action to those who are not (yet) part of the global movement.
