European Foundations for Sustainable Agriculture and Food – Cultivating Connections

The European Foundations for Sustainable Agriculture and Food (EFSAF) network will explore “Cultivating Connections” on 9–11 June in Berlin to reconnect, deepen collaboration and reflect on the evolving landscape of sustainable food systems in Europe.
The past months have seen increasing uncertainty with the Green Deal losing momentum, and the omnibus package weakening key sustainability rules, the food and agriculture sector faces mounting environmental, social and economic pressures. In this context, philanthropy has an essential role to play by aligning efforts, working closely with partners, and strengthening the ecosystem that supports a just transition.
This year’s meeting will focus on community‑building, members’ strategic priorities for 2026, future thinking, and a deep dive into the German context, including an informal gathering with local partners and funders. The aim is to better understand each other’s work, identify opportunities for cooperation, and continue shaping EFSAF’s collective contribution to Europe’s sustainable food systems.
