Children and Youth Network – How to Involve Children Every Step on the Way

The Children and Youth Network will host “How to Involve Children Every Step on the Way” online on 16 September, the final module of the “How to Involve Children and Youth in Your Work” peer-learning journey.
What if children weren’t just consulted at the end of the process, but helped shape the journey from the very beginning? Imagine guidelines and policies that speak in their language, reflect their needs, and carry their voices throughout. That’s what true participation looks like, children as co-creators, not just recipients.
In this module, we will explore how to make that vision real and hear directly from children about their experiences of being involved, discover what meaningful participation looks like in practice, and learn how their ideas can transform complex documents into resources that truly work for young people.
Based on the case study, by the Learning for Well-being Foundation and Eurochild, of co-creating a child-friendly version of the European Commission’s Guidelines on Well-being and Mental Health at School, this experience will offer practical guidance on how to involve children in developing child-friendly versions of political documents and guidelines.
Over the past modules, we’ve explored how foundations and organisations are shifting their practices, from governance to programming, to meaningfully involve children and young people. With the simple aim to build deeper, more effective models of youth participation, grounded in what’s working on the ground.
