Philea takes over coordination of Transnational Giving Europe

Today, coordination of Transnational Giving Europe (TGE), the network enabling European donors to make donations quickly and easily across most EU countries, was transferred from King Baudouin Foundation (KBF) to Philanthropy Europe Association (Philea).

TGE facilitates cross-border philanthropy in Europe by providing a secure and efficient solution to enable donors to give and promotes cross-border philanthropy through the exchange of information and best practices.

There are currently 19 countries in the TGE network: Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, the UK.

Delphine Moralis, CEO at Philea: “The challenges we face require philanthropy to be at its very best, including being able to make the optimal use of its finite resources. This is an exciting – but critically important – opportunity to take on the responsibility for writing TGE’s next chapter, as it is currently the only practical and secure solution for tax-effective philanthropy across the continent.

Philea already works to overcome the various legal, administrative and fiscal barriers European foundations face when acting across borders, which have been estimated to cost them around €90,000,000 to €101,700,000 per year. Philea’s European Philanthropy Manifesto also calls on policymakers to help facilitate cross-border philanthropy in Europe as part of its work towards a Single Market for Philanthropy.
