Philea re-appointed to European Commission Expert Group on the Social Economy and Social Enterprises (GECES)
Philea has been re-appointed as a member of the European Commission’s Expert Group on the Social Economy and Social Enterprises (GECES), bringing the philanthropic perspective into work of the group.
The group aims to boost the social economy agenda in Europe and work towards the wider vision of building an economy that works for people and planet. Foundations are social economy actors in their own right but also can be involved as funders/investors and supporters of other social economy actors. The foundation sector is one of four social economy families next to associations, co-operatives and mutual societies.
At the October meeting of group, the European Commission’s DG EMPL and DG GROW provided updates on the state of play of the Social Economy Action Plan (SEAP), SE Transition Pathway, SE Gateway, SE Council Recommendation and ECBA proposal among other issues.
Work at the national level will be important to ensure the pick up and implementation of the Social Economy Action Plan, SE Transition Pathway and the Council recommendation on developing framework conditions in Member States over the next years.
