Philea launches call for data for latest mapping of European environmental funding
Philea’s European Environmental Funders Group has launched a call for data for the latest edition of its environmental funding mapping, building upon the success of the fifth mapping in 2021, that analysed the data of 5,358 aggregated grants from 127 leading foundations, with a total value of €745.6 million, to create one of the most comprehensive study’s to date into the state of European philanthropic funding for environmental issues.
The 6th edition will seek to build upon the success of the earlier editions, expanding the coverage and ensuring that the analysis can serve as a catalyst for more targeted, and strategic, environmental giving. The long-term goal remains that which was set out in earlier editions: to establish as detailed a picture as possible of the state of European philanthropic funding for environmental issues, with a view to raising the profile of environmental funders, building understanding of the sector, improving coordination, and providing analysis that informs discussion of effectiveness in environmental grantmaking.
If you are a foundation based in Europe working in the field of environment and sustainability, and would like to contribute, please send your data on grants/programme expenditure authorised in 2021 in the field of environment and sustainability to the EEFG Mapping team by 31 September.
The threshold for the total grants amount for this year’s mapping is set to €350,000 but if your foundation’s grantmaking in the environmental field is below the threshold please do not hesitate to contact us.
