Novo Nordisk Foundation awards DKK 138 million under new data science and artificial intelligence initiative
The Novo Nordisk Foundation has awarded DKK 138m (approximately €18.5m) in grants under its new data science and artificial intelligence initiative.
The initiative comprises three programmes that support research into data science and will see the establishment of national infrastructure and research collaborations in Denmark. The initiative came about due to a lack of data scientists in both the public and private sectors, and the increasing need for data management within science.
The 12 grants will see DKK 65.5m awarded in eight Investigator Grants, a programme for research group leaders. A further DKK 45m will be awarded for collaborative research partnerships between data scientists and/or researchers in other scientific areas, that collectively create synergy in research. The final amount of DKK 27.9m will be awarded to two research infrastructure projects.
