Giving Europe
Giving Europe is a platform striving to make cross-border giving in Europe simple, secure, and tax-effective.
Through a network of trusted national partners, Giving Europe enables donors to support non-profit organisations beyond their home country, while ensuring donations are handled in line with local regulations. Hosted by Philea, the role of Giving Europe is to remove the legal, fiscal, and administrative barriers to giving across borders, so generosity can travel freely across Europe.
Vision
Giving Europe aims to make cross-border philanthropy in Europe easier by:
- providing a secure and efficient way for donors to give,
- promoting cross-border generosity through sharing information and best practices, and
- expanding the Giving Europe network to new countries as a trusted, practical service for tax-effective giving across Europe.
Mission
Giving Europe envisions a generous Europe where cross-border philanthropy is secure and easy.
Values
Giving Europe is committed to promoting solidarity across European borders, transparency, integrity and firm yet non-discriminatory due diligence.
About Giving Europe
Giving Europe (formerly Transnational Giving Europe) was established in 1995 by four leading European foundations in Belgium (King Baudouin Foundation), France (Fondation de France), the Netherlands (Juliana Welzijn Fonds) and the United Kingdom (Charities Aid Foundation) to enable, improve and facilitate cross-border philanthropy in Europe. The network has now expanded to cover 19 countries – with the ambition to grow even larger.
Formerly hosted by the King Baudouin Foundation, the network, its operations, brand, assets and activities were transferred on 1 July 2025 to Philea, Philanthropy Europe Association, Europe’s largest membership body for philanthropy. Philea nurtures a diverse and inclusive ecosystem of foundations, philanthropic organisations and networks in over 30 countries that work for the common good. With individual and national-level infrastructure organisations as members, Philea unites almost 9,000 public-benefit foundations that seek to improve life for people and communities in Europe and around the world.
