Global Perspectives release follow-up paper on ”Potentials and the possible impact of Civil Society in strengthening and defending Multilateralism”

The Global Perspectives Initiative (GPI) have released a follow up paper to their workshop on ”Potentials and the possible impact of Civil Society in strengthening and defending Multilateralism” on the 13th December.

The paper provides a summary of the discussions and debates that took place at the workshop, hosted by GPI, Stiftung Mercator and Robert Bosch Stiftung in Berlin. Attended by the EFC’s Chief Executive, Gerry Salole, the workshop sought to elicit the role of civil society in strengthening multilateralism and its institutions.

The paper highlights the eight key findings of the workshop that would prove beneficial to aiding multilateralism.

They are in brief:

  1. Making multilateralism an onsite experience for policy makers
  2. Adopting simple language and communications
  3. Igniting political campaigns and learning from experts
  4. Educating communication professionals
  5. Engaging the silent minorities and majorities
  6. Exploring the common ground
  7. Initiate long-term anticipatory planning
  8. Developing the courage for change
