Ford Foundation supported documentary “American Factory” wins Oscar for Best Documentary

The documentary “American Factory” has won the Oscar for Best Documentary at the 92nd Academy Awards.

The documentary investigates what happens when a Chinese company comes to Moraine, Ohio to reopen a shuttered General Motors plant. The documentary creates a telling, deeply human exploration of the past, present and future of American and Chinese labour and a rapidly evolving globalised economy.

Directed by Steven Bognar and Julia Reichart and produced by Barack and Michelle Obama’s Higher Ground, the documentary was one of three documentary’s supported by the Ford Foundation to be nominated for Best Documentary at the Oscar’s, alongside For Sama and The Edge of Democracy.
