Fondation de France calls for solidarity and donations in the wake of the Beirut explosion
Fondation de France has called for solidarity and donations to support those impacted by the explosion that happened on 4 August in Beirut that devastated the port and large parts of the city, killing more than 100 people and injuring over 4000 more.
Fondation de France has been working in Lebanon, alongside local associations, since 2016 and is seeking to help support these partners working on the ground to respond to the disaster and sustainably rebuild a country already deeply marked by wars and economic crisis.
The aid will primarily seek to:
- provide social and psycho-social assistance to the most affected inhabitants
- support the revival of economic activity, in particular helping small and medium enterprises
- help in the rehabilitation of housing, with initial assessments suggesting at least 300,000 people are now homeless as a result of the damage
