Youth Carrying Democracy Today

The Tuborg Foundation and Foundations for Ukraine will host “Youth Carrying Democracy Today”, a conversation on what philanthropy must unlearn to better support the future of today’s youth, in Copenhagen on 18 May.

What must philanthropy unlearn to truly support young people shaping democracy in the context of war? Across Ukraine, from the Revolution of Dignity to the ongoing full-scale war, young people are carrying democratic responsibility in ways that challenge how youth engagement is commonly understood.

This interactive session will create space for direct exchange, small group conversations, and collective reflection across perspectives. The session will explore what happens when responsibility comes before readiness, what does meaningful support look like when youth are already leading and what can other contexts learn from this experience.
