Views from the Frontlines: Key Opportunities and Entry Points for Financing Local Resilience
The Global Network of Civil Society Organisations for Disaster Reduction (GNDR), in partnership with the Centre for Disaster Protection (CDP), is working to better understand how funding reaches local actors and where the gaps lie. Drawing on a survey of over 300 respondents from more than 100 countries and a series of regional focus group discussions, this research captures local priorities and perspectives on disaster risk financing.
The event will include a presentation of these findings, alongside the publication of a joint policy paper by GNDR and CDP, contributing to growing global discussions on pre-arranged finance and the role of local actors. This event aims to contribute to these conversations, bringing frontline voices and evidence into spaces where financing decisions are made. The discussion will be approached from two complementary perspectives: one from the communities at risk and their local representatives and the other through the lens of donors committed to changing the way resilience building and humanitarian action are funded.
It is co-organised by GNDR and the Righting Society. For additional information please contact Dr Marianna Leite (mleite@rightingsociety.be) or Ms Vera Exnerova (vera.exnerova@gndr.org).
