Standing Together for Philanthropic Freedoms in Europe
Philea will host “Standing Together for Philanthropic Freedoms in Europe”, online on 14 May, a members-only conversation to bringing together national and EU-level actors to explore how we can collectively uphold fundamental freedoms.
Across Europe, philanthropy plays a vital role in strengthening democratic life, promoting social cohesion and addressing urgent challenges, from climate action to social justice. However, growing legal and policy pressures at the national as well as EU level, threaten the ability of philanthropic organisations to operate freely and effectively.
This session will build upon the previous exchange on 30 April, that focused on the transatlantic relationship and global threats to philanthropy, and examine the current landscape, highlight risks and opportunities, and advance a vision for an enabling environment where philanthropy can thrive across borders and for the common good.
