Philanthropy and Crises: Exchange on Gaza

Philea will host “Philanthropy and Crises: Exchange on Gaza”, online on 11 September, a member-only drop-in exchange on the unfolding humanitarian emergency in Gaza.

The humanitarian situation in Gaza has reached catastrophic levels, with United Nations agencies warning that food and nutrition indicators have surpassed famine thresholds. Millions of civilians – particularly children and women – face daily threats to survival, compounded by the destruction of essential services and infrastructure.

This is an informal space for members to connect, reflect, and consider ways to act – whether through humanitarian support, public appeals, or longer-term recovery efforts. Your experience, questions and ideas will shape this exchange. The discussion will be led by reflections from those directly engaged on the ground, and invite European foundations to share their perspectives on ongoing efforts and explore together what can be done collectively.

The online event is open to any full Philea member with an interest in humanitarian action, peace and human rights, international cooperation or philanthropy’s role in crisis preparedness and response. Even if you are not working on Gaza but would like to connect with peers and understand what philanthropy can do at this moment, you are welcome to join.
