Funders Forum on International Cooperation Partnerships – International Partnership and Cooperation in the New Paradigm: Foundations and Locally-led Development

The Funders Forum on International Cooperation Partnerships will host “International Partnership and Cooperation in the New Paradigm: Foundations and Locally-led Development” on 27 May, in Ghent, just before the Philea Forum 2024.

In 2022, a global coalition of funders made a commitment to advancing locally-led development. Spearheaded by USAID and the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation and bolstered by the leadership of philanthropic organisations such as the Conrad N. Hilton Foundations, 19 bilateral donors and 20 US-based foundations stepped up. Their pledge involved a collective commitment to shift and share power, allocate funding of the highest quality as directly as possible, and advocate for locally sustained change.

Within Europe, the Funders’ Forum on International Cooperation Partnerships, a new European funders’ collaborative group focusing on new trends and challenges in the field of international cooperation, was inspired by the commitment and are seeking to build on the momentum and possibilities for Europe-based foundations to reflect upon, and endorse, the Donor Statement on Supporting Locally Led Development.

This event is by invitation only.
