European Philanthropy Coalition for Climate and WINGS – Getting Started on Your Climate Journey: Exploring Climate Adaptation and Resilience

The European Philanthropy Coalition for Climate and WINGS will host a webinar “Getting Started on Your Climate Journey: Exploring Climate Adaptation and Resilience” on 25 November to offer organisations across the philanthropy ecosystem a practical entry point into climate adaptation and resilience.
As climate change increasingly affects communities, ecosystems and economies around the world, adaptation and resilience must be crucial areas of interest for philanthropy. But what do these concepts mean in practice, and how can foundations engage with them, whatever their core focus?
This introductory session will explore the fundamentals of climate adaptation and resilience, unpacking key concepts, common misconceptions and emerging approaches within philanthropy. Participants will hear from experts and practitioners who are helping foundations navigate this evolving field and will gain practical examples of how adaptation and resilience can be integrated into different funding contexts.
Whether you are just beginning to explore climate action or looking to broaden your understanding, this session will provide a useful starting point for understanding philanthropy’s role in helping communities and systems prepare for and respond to a changing climate.
This webinar is part of a learning series to support foundations and philanthropy infrastructure organisations to get started on their climate journeys, through the framework of Philanthropy For Climate. This series invites practitioners to explore the climate crisis as a defining context for philanthropy and consider their own agency in response.
