European Philanthropy Coalition for Climate and WINGS – From Individual Commitment to Ecosystem Impact: Global Insights from Philanthropy For Climate

The European Philanthropy Coalition for Climate and WINGS will host “From Individual Commitment to Ecosystem Impact: Global Insights from Philanthropy For Climate” online on 4 June to launch the first-ever “Philanthropy For Climate: The State of The Movement Report” and explore the key findings of the report.
Seven years ago, Philanthropy For Climate began as a call to action in the UK. Today, it spans the globe and for the first time, we have movement-wide data to show what’s happened since its inception. Drawing on responses from over 450 foundations representing over $5 billion in annual expenditure and $31.8 billion in endowments, the findings are clear, progress is real but the harder work of shifting assets, deepening integration, and raising ambition, lies ahead.
With a climate crisis that isn’t waiting and philanthropy’s resources still falling far short of what’s needed, the stakes are clear. Yet the movement is advancing: 98% of responding foundations report making progress and 88% say that signing the commitment has strengthened their awareness and action. This is a moment for honest reflection and renewed action.
The launch of the first Philanthropy For Climate: The State of the Movement Progress Report, a collective snapshot of where nearly a thousand foundations stand, what’s driving change and where the gaps remain will showcase how foundations are navigating their own paths forward, and explore what the next phase of this movement requires.
Every foundation’s journey looks different. What matters is that you’re on one, and that you don’t have to travel it alone.
