European Foundations for Sustainable Agriculture and Food – Food Systems and Climate Action in Europe Beyond 2024: Opportunities for Philanthropy

The European Foundations for Sustainable Agriculture and Food (EFSAF) will host “Food Systems and Climate Action in Europe Beyond 2024: Opportunities for Philanthropy” online on 8 July.

The initial results of the European elections on 9 June suggest a complex political scenario in the years to come. Food and agriculture were at the core of the debate on nature and climate leading up to the elections. Farmers’ protests blocking motorways from Berlin, Paris and Warsaw to Brussels have been the largest and most impactful in decades, compelling policy concessions and influencing political outcomes. This leaves actors working on food systems transformation and democracy strengthening with a big task ahead.

The event will see policy analysts and philanthropy experts to reflect on the implications expected within Europe, such as the impact on subsidies reform, as well as the external impacts of EU policies and Europe’s global responsibility in areas like trade, supply chains, and global processes. The goal is to strengthen joint learning and exchange strategies in this complex political environment.
