European Environmental Funders Group – Environmental Philanthropy in Europe: Where Are We Now?

The European Environmental Funders Group will host “Environmental Philanthropy in Europe: Where Are We Now?” online on 16 June to showcase the seventh edition of “Environmental Funding by European Foundations” and explore some of the key findings from the report.

Building on previous editions, this flagship research offers the most comprehensive overview of how European philanthropic foundations are supporting environmental action, drawing on a broader range of foundations and an expanded analytical lens.

The report explores long-term trends in environmental grantmaking, looking at thematic priorities, geographic reach, and approaches to change. Its aim is not only to map funding flows, but also to strengthen understanding of the sector, support better coordination, and inform strategic conversations on effectiveness and impact in environmental philanthropy.

This session will present the new edition’s headline findings and critical questions, offering a space for funders to reflect on what the data reveals about current practices, gaps, and opportunities in environmental philanthropy.

This webinar is addressed to funders, civil society organisations, policymakers, and other experts to further explore the findings from different perspectives.
