European Environmental Funders Group – Connecting for Impact: Philanthropy for Nature, Biodiversity and Climate

The European Environmental Funders Group will come together on 24-25 February in Brussels under the theme of “Connecting for Impact: Philanthropy for Nature, Biodiversity and Climate” to meet each other, exchange perspectives, and reconnect with peers across the field.
European funders working on nature and biodiversity are increasingly being called on to defend hard-won gains while sustaining momentum for transformative change and facing political and economic shifts that threaten to slow or dilute environmental action.
The in-person gatheringis designed first and foremost as an informal, welcoming space for European funders working on nature and biodiversity to meet and exchange perspectives. It aims to provide a space to reflect together on how philanthropy can help ensure that biodiversity, environmental protection, and the nature–climate nexus remain priorities despite shifting political and economic pressures; to strengthen networks and build trusted relationships. Participants will take stock of the various initiatives, platforms, and collaborations already underway in Europe; and to anticipate and respond to policy risks, such as potential challenges to key EU nature legislation, including the Birds and Habitats Directives and the Nature Restoration Law, in the coming year.
This meeting is intentionally relaxed: a chance to pause, connect, and understand where collective energy is emerging.
