Equality in (Climate) Crisis: Equality Bodies Addressing the Impact of Climate Change on Marginalised Groups

Equinet will host “Equality in (Climate) Crisis: Equality Bodies Addressing the Impact of Climate Change on Marginalised Groups” online on 3 December 2025.

The impact of climate change is far-reaching, though not distributed equally. Marginalized groups, including women, racialised people, people with disabilities, and older persons often bear the brunt of the climate crisis, which exacerbates existing inequalities. Addressing climate change is thus not only an environmental necessity but also a matter of ensuring equality in practice. Over the course of the day, this online conference will offer participants an opportunity to further explore the links between climate change and inequality, and the discriminatory impacts of the climate crisis and related policies in intersectional lens.

In particular, the online conference will bring together organisations representing affected groups as well as researchers and experts to explore the intersectional discriminatory impacts of the climate crises on marginalized communities, and what Equality Bodies can do to support more just climate action.
