Disability Thematic Network and Funders Forum on Sustainable Cities – Cities of the Future: Unlocking Sustainable and Inclusive Solutions

The Disability Thematic Network and Funders Forum on Sustainable Cities will host “Cities of the Future: Unlocking Sustainable and Inclusive Solutions” on 18-20 November in Madrid, Spain to collaborate and exchange on the tools and strategies needed to build inclusive and sustainable cities of the future.

Cities are the engines of our societies, where human life and development flourish. However, they face significant challenges when it comes to sustainability and accessibility.

Despite the disruptions caused by the pandemic and other crises, urbanisation remains a major 21st-century trend. With nearly 70% of the world’s population expected to live in urban areas by 2050, how we develop our cities over the next 30 years will profoundly impact society. Philanthropic organisations can play a critical role in shaping sustainable cities by providing essential resources and fostering innovation.

This gathering brings together foundations under a shared vision: to create thriving, accessible and sustainable cities for all. During the event, foundations focused on disability, accessibility, and inclusion will connect with organisations dedicated to sustainable urban development, emphasising the importance of environmentally responsible practices and economic sustainability. Through interactive discussions, workshops and presentations, we will explore the intersection of these fields and its growing importance in the philanthropic sector.
