Core Funding & Trust-Based Philanthropy

The King Baudouin Foundation will host “Core Funding & Trust-Based Philanthropy” online on 3 November.
For many years, the King Baudouin Foundation has supported projects around the world. As part of its Africa Strategy, the foundation has gradually evolved from traditional project-based funding towards a more unrestricted funding approach. We believe that lasting impact for both partners and the communities they serve is strengthened when organizations have the flexibility to allocate resources according to their most pressing needs and strategic priorities. This approach is built on trust, long-term partnerships, and a shared commitment to sustainable change.
Unrestricted funding is not a new concept. Across the philanthropic sector, an increasing number of foundations are adapting their funding models to maximize long-term impact and reduce dependency cycles between funders and partners. Yet important questions remain. Why are foundations shifting towards unrestricted funding? What impact does it have on partner organisations and the communities they serve? What challenges does it present for both funders and grantees? And is unrestricted funding the future of equitable partnerships across the African continent?
This webinar aims to foster an open and honest discussion around these questions. Through practical examples and first-hand experiences, our speakers will share lessons learned, successes, and challenges from implementing unrestricted funding approaches.
The webinar is intended for funders, philanthropy professionals, and anyone interested in learning more about unrestricted funding and trust-based philanthropy.
