Beyond Grants: Investing with Your Programmes Part Two

Philea and Impact Europe, through the joint “Beyond Grants: A Holistic Approach to Philanthropy” initiative will host “Beyond Grants: Investing with Your Programmes Part Two” online on 4 November.

Charting the future of philanthropy will require thinking beyond the usual and getting holistic. We can no longer ignore the need for philanthropy and business to move in concert, nor the fact that a foundation’s impact comes not only from its philanthropic partnerships but also from its investment approaches and decisions. Beyond Grants calls for in-depth discussion on strategic and operational levels about the future of philanthropy and its core instruments.

This follow-up session will continue our exploration of how foundations are using their programmatic budgets to invest for impact. The session will spotlight elea and Fourfold Foundation, two organisations that have formed a strategic partnership for greater impact. Sharing a belief that entrepreneurship is a powerful driver of change, elea and Fourfold have joined forces to fight absolute poverty through entrepreneurial means; leveraging elea’s pioneering experience in philanthropic impact investing since 2006 and Fourfold’s focus on deep, long-term philanthropic engagements in food systems and nature-based solutions. Together, they exemplify how programme-related investments can expand a foundation’s toolbox and enable bold, mission-driven collaboration.

Participants will have the chance to hear about peer experiences, exchange lessons learned and reflect on opportunities for collaboration and scale. Together, we will continue building a shared understanding of existing initiatives, resources, and support needs across Europe.

Impact Europe and Philea bring unique skills, knowledge and reach towards the goal of demystifying impact investing for philanthropic organisations. By working together, we seek to establish clear pathways for experienced, new and potential practitioners. The workplan is built by its practitioner community, guided by its needs and supported by a dedicated Advisory Committee.
