End of year message to Philea Members

As 2022 draws to a close, I would like to take the opportunity to thank you for being part of an amazing first year of Philea. We have come so far in 12 months, and there are many more adventures yet to come, but one thing is clear: We simply couldn’t have done it without you.

The year has taught us the paramount importance of staying strong together in the face of global crises from Ukraine, to climate, to the cost of living. As a sector we have so much to offer in helping to overcome these challenges.

The first Philea Forum in Barcelona was an ideal location to discuss the symbiosis of these global challenges, and allowed an exceptional lens to be placed on philanthropy for and in Ukraine. At times when people and planet are really struggling, it is vital that philanthropy be at its best, as a catalyst for partnership, innovation, and bringing diverse people and organisations together.

Your work is both our barometer and compass – from your contributions to and participation in our thematic networks and peer-learning communities to the opinions and stories you share on our website. We will be in touch with you in early 2023 to kick off a “listening tour” of all members, to make sure that you have your say as Philea enters a new phase of activity.

On behalf of all the Philea staff, thank you for your engagement and trust. I look forward to continuing our journey together next year, and in the meantime wish you a peaceful and restful end of year.
