Arts and Culture Funders Forum launches EcoArts Nexus, a repository of knowledge on environment and arts and culture funding

The Arts and Culture Funders Forum has launched the EcoArts Nexus, an online repository of knowledge, resources and tools on the environment and arts and culture.

Designed to be adaptable and continuously growing, the EcoArts Nexus is an online repository that compiles extensive knowledge at the intersection of the arts and the environment from various fields and practices. It offers open access to a wealth of information to benefit individuals and organisations in these sectors.

When we began addressing environmental sustainability in the cultural sector, we identified numerous diverse practices in arts and culture that many may not be familiar with. We aim to consolidate these fragmented practices and provide easy access to this valuable information. The Repository aims to inspire cultural actors to adopt climate-neutral practices and provide information to make their journey toward sustainability easier” stated Dea Vidovic, Kultura Nova Foundation and former Chair of the Arts and Culture Funders Forum.

The repository, divided into 15 categories and with a growing database of over 250 examples, is an instrumental tool for understanding and navigating the intricate relationships between environmental policies, funding strategies, capacity-building programmes, and the development of green tools and guidebooks tailored specifically for the arts and culture sectors.

Through the collective wisdom of its contributors, the EcoArts Nexus promises to inspire, educate, and empower individuals to effect meaningful change in their communities and beyond. “EcoArts Nexus is an innovative platform that catalogues knowledge at the intersection of art, culture, environmental sustainability, and financing mechanisms. This dynamic directory maps philanthropic institutions, public funding sources, the art world, and the cultural sector, all committed to addressing urgent environmental challenges,” stated Klaus Fruchtnis, Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation and current Vice-Chair of the Arts and Culture Funders Forum.

Crafted under the umbrella of the Philea Arts and Culture Funders Forum, the EcoArts Nexus was created with major contributions from the Kultura Nova Foundation, the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation and Porticus. The Kultura Nova Foundation will continue to manage the repository.
