Founded on January 4, 1963 by the historian Fernand Braudel, the Fondation Maison des Sciences de l’Homme advances research in the humanities and social sciences to deepen our understanding of past, present, and future worlds, and address the common challenges facing humanity.
Recognized as a public utility foundation, the FMSH develops programs and services for the benefit of all scientific communities to accelerate the creation and sharing of knowledge on a global scale.
