Fondazione 1563 calls for applications for their summer school ‘Rethinking the Baroque (XVII and XVIII centuries) – new historical and critical perspectives’
Since 2012 the Fondazione 1563 per l’Arte e la Cultura della Compagnia di San Paolo (Fondazione 1563) has been actively organising and promoting a Study Programme on the Age and the Culture of Baroque, directed by Professor Michela di Macco.
Among the activities of the Programme, the Foundation organises a Summer School aiming to provide the participants with educational opportunities related to disciplinary and cross-disciplinary dialogue, through specific focus on content and method and also techniques to enhance the communication of knowledge.
It will address periods and turning points of cultural production in the field of art, architecture, literature, music, theatre, history in Europe in the XVII and XVIII centuries and it will further develop the critical reflection on the studies dedicated to the Baroque and its chronology.
The Summer School will take place in Torino, Italy, from 2-7 September 2019. The Summer School (which will be taught in Italian) is addressed to scholars who are younger than 40, active in the disciplines of history, art history, architecture and literature and who hold a Ph.D., a certificate of specialization, a 2nd level master’s, or are enrolled in the second year of such study courses.
The Summer School is free and the candidates have to apply by 31 May 2019 by filling in the application form
