Finnish Cultural Foundation announce additional funding to support the arts through the COVID-19 pandemic
The Finnish Cultural Foundation has announced additional funding worth €1 million to support the arts and arts organisations through the state of emergency caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The funding will support communities in the art sector that fall outside of the support provided by the Financing Act in Finland, such as theatre companies, orchestras, dance groups, visual arts events and festivals, who due to the pandemic have temporarily lost operational capacity and income.
“The pandemic has hit organisations active in the cultural and events sector particularly hard, and support is needed. The Cultural Foundation for their part is looking to help high-quality art organisations around Finland to withstand the pandemic and remain operational during the period of uncertainty” explains Jari Sokka, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Finnish Cultural Foundation.
The grants worth up to 50.000 euros can be used to pay salaries or to cover rental expenses and will be announced to applicants in mid-December and the paid out within the current calendar year.
