ERA training seminar – ”Legal Capacity of Persons with Disabilities”
The Academy of European Law (ERA) is organising a training seminar for legal practitioners on ”Legal Capacity of Persons with Disabilities” on 16-17 September, 2019 in Trier.
The seminar, organised in partnership with the EFC’s Disability Thematic Network, and the European Disability Forum, will give participants an in-depth insight into the right to equal recognition before the law under Article 12 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) as well as the safeguards and standards it entails.
Key topics of discussion include:
- The UNCRPD in EU law
- The right to equal recognition before the law
- Right to liberty and security of persons with disabilities
- The right to found a family for persons with disabilities
- Effective participation of persons with disabilities in criminal proceedings
The training is free of charge but is only open to legal practitioners, including lawyers, NGOs, DPOs, equality bodies and academics, from an EU Member State, Iceland or Liechtenstein.
