Diversity, Migration and Integration Thematic Network webinar – Towards creating racially equitable systems and societies: a reflection on racial equity and migration
The EFC’s Diversity, Migration and Integration Thematic Network will hold a webinar “Towards creating racially equitable systems and societies: a reflection on racial equity and migration” on 23 September.
The collective effort to fight racial inequality and implement policies that allow every citizen the same opportunities to thrive is currently threatened by the consequences of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic as well as the most recent political and military events in the Middle East. Widespread political instability fosters migrant flows and, as a result, thousands of people forced to leave their own countries are inevitably exposed to the traumatic experience of rebuilding a new life in a place that does not offer them the same resources that are made available to other citizens.
This webinar will explore the challenge of racial equity and aim to think about a new framework for understanding the connection between it and the relentless migration-related phenomena. The webinar will offer the opportunity to hear from the Equinox Initiative for Racial Justice, a people of colour-led initiative working to advance rights and justice for all people in Europe and will provide the chance for participants to share and discuss their takes on these issues.
