Breakfast Briefing on a Future Protection Mechanism for Human Rights Defenders and Civil Society in Europe
Amnesty International, CNVOS Slovenia, the Stefan Batory Foundation Poland, FDSC Romania and a civil society task force, hosted by Civil Society Europe and European Civic Forum, will host “Breakfast Briefing on a Future Protection Mechanism for Human Rights Defenders and Civil Society in Europe” on 19 April to share their findings on the need for a protection mechanism alongside testimony from human rights defenders at risk.
The briefing builds on the Council Conclusions adopted under the Swedish Presidency that commits to “Protect CSOs and human rights defenders by continued efforts to foster and protect democracy, the rule of law, and fundamental rights across all relevant policy areas, including by ensuring coherence between the Union’s approach to protecting human rights defenders externally and internally“.
