Europe needs a vaccine for inequality, not just COVID-19 – Op-ed by Delphine Moralis
Today – the 1st of October – is the European Day of Foundations and Donors, a day to celebrate and showcase the important role that philanthropy plays in our societies… and not just today, but every day.
The day itself will see events take place all over Europe, and Philanthropy Advocacy, the joint DAFNE and EFC initiative, is hosting a high level debate in the afternoon to explore with key European policymakers as well as representatives from the foundation sector, how the EU Institutions and Member States can unlock the potential of philanthropy.
In the build up to the event, our new Chief Executive Delphine Moralis has written an op-ed for Euractiv on the key role our sector can play in building new forms of partnerships – cross border and cross sector – to tackle some of the most pressing current needs, from COVID-19 to inequality and social justice. Both the op-ed, and the debate later, highlight the value and benefits of the EU (and other sectors) working closely in partnership with philanthropy as part of a holistic approach to creating a more socially, environmentally and economically resilient Europe.
