Definition
According to the Bulgarian Non-profit Legal Entities Act two types of non-profit organisations are recognised: associations and foundations. Associations are organisations that are membership-based and established by three or more persons or entities united for performing activities that have non-profit objectives. Foundations are property-based and created by a unilateral deed of establishment granting without compensation property for attainment of non-profit purpose. There is another difference between the NPOs depending on the goals they serve: the public or private-benefit.
