Who is going to provide data insights for European philanthropy? What is the most appropriate regulatory framework and how can we build a single market for philanthropy across Europe? How to provide the best knowledge exchange and learning opportunities around effective philanthropy?

Building on 15 years of experience in shaping European sector representations – including 18 months of leading DAFNE, the European umbrella organisation of donors and foundations – I believe that the challenges and the opportunities for Europe’s philanthropy field are both big, demanding and potentially huge in terms of impact on the future of private funding for public good. Therefore this ‘Philanthropy Europe Newsletter’ is an invitation to you, to your organisation and to your network to join co-creating Europe‘s philanthropy space for tomorrow.

Why? Because not one single organisation can address these sectoral tasks on its own. We need a coalition of leaders willing to take new approaches to manage relationships within and outside the sector and to leverage the full potential of cooperation for the benefit of the ecosystem. And by calling for a competition of the best ideas and providing a place where the smartest minds meet, we are jointly able to make a difference when it comes to advocacy, data insights, knowledge exchange and the effectiveness of philanthropy.

I would be very happy to see you joining this ‘coalition’ by keeping in touch through this Philanthropy Europe Newsletter, sharing your ideas and reflections via social media by using #PhilanthropyEurope and getting actively involved. I am looking forward to walking the talk jointly with you.
